About Me
Hello! I’m Ella Bennett, an actor, youth educator, and professional nerd based in Jersey City, NJ. I studied Theater and Performance at Bard College and studied abroad with Fordham University in London as well as the British American Drama Academy at their Midsummer in Oxford Program. Since graduating, I have performed in multiple independent horror films on Tubi TV, stage productions in NJ and NYC, an independent TV show on Amazon, and even a local commercial. When not performing, I find purpose in educating youth: especially those who may feel forgotten by the so-called “normal” educational system. I am passionate about using performance as well as my experience as a queer and neurodivergent person to connect with my students and help them develop skills to promote growth. I also work with Interactive Advocacy, a company that provides violence prevention training across the country. As an “Edutainer”, I perform at trainings in an effort to dismantle systems of oppression in the workplace using audience engagement.
My most recent projects include a stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereueses where I played a cheeky courtesan. I also have just finished an independent feature-length horror film called The Night of the Harvest which will be released on TubiTV and Amazon Prime in late April 2024, playing a nurturing yet badass teen who fights for the lives of her friends and little sister.
Some of my favorite roles have been Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a pill-popping paramedic in a horror short Hypertrophy that premiered at the FearNYC Festival in Brooklyn in 2019, and a goth wizard with a secret heart-of-gold in Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic with Bridge Players Theatre Company. I also have a special place in my heart for Charlotte Lucas in Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. In 2023, I was nominated for a NJACT Perry Award for Supporting Actress.
Also, I’m the proud dog-mom to a Jack Russell Terrier called Kensington (named after the neighborhood I lived in while in London with Fordham). When not teaching, reading, singing, working on my new Dungeons and Dragons podcast, or doing yoga, I’m usually drinking a nice cuppa with her by my side.
